Bring what you need, and then some...

VTAC Nightfighter 101 Course Loadout

Every time you go to the range or attend training, it is an opportunity to shake out your gear.  This is the gear I took to the Viking Tactics Nightfighter 101 course with Kyle Lamb and Chili Palmer.  Most of the gear had been used before, but maybe not “with” the rest of the gear.  Here is a list of what was brought with a (E) indicating if it was an Extra backup for a primary piece of gear.

Rifle with 5 Magpul PMags equipped with:

  • SureFire Warcomp
  • Vortex Razor HD Gen II-E 1-6×24
  • Kinetic Development Slidelock Scope Mount
  • VTAC Padded Sling
  • Klarus XT12S Light
  • Odin Works M-LOK 1″ Flashlight Mount

Additional Equipment:

All in all I am pretty pleased with the course loadout.  Additionally, since it was a fairly minimal setup, I was able to ship all of the gear to the Sig Academy in New Hampshire who was hosting the class.  Not a bad way to travel…

Things can break. Always bring extras…
  1. Ivan,

Great debrief! I appreciated your comments about how the training had an effect on your gear (light switch) and how you adjusted your kit or made do with it (belt kit, optic). I have had the same experience at Gunsite courses, showing up with one set of assumptions/gear and adjusting them during the course of training.

    1. Thanks Dave! Shooting courses are a great platform to run and trial gear. Lots of opportunity for learning. 🙂
