A Winter Hot Dog Hike

There is nothing like a Hot Dog Hike in the winter time. And if you are unfamiliar with a Hot Dog Hike, it is hike that culminates in roasting hot dogs over a fire. What is the significance you might ask? It is a platform for skill building.
Whether it is with adults or kids, it is a matter of hiking out into the woods, gathering fire making materials, processing wood, and not only getting a fire started, but keeping it lit. Long enough to get some coals going to roast a hot dog.
While this is fairly easy in the summer time, stepping off in a few feet of snow changes the game. My buddy Matt from Jerking The Trigger and his daughters, along with myself and my boys, headed out to try our skills this North Idaho Winter on a little adventure.

Putting in the work to clear a spot for our fire. Hot Dogs taste better out in the woods. Lots of learning points along the way.
