Remote Military March

Varusteleka: 25km Remote Military March *2020*

Sometimes it is good to push yourself. Doing so can give you some insight into your capabilities, potentially build confidence and maybe provide you with some feedback on places you need to improve. I can say all of those things occurred for my boys and I when we set out on the Varusteleka Remote Military March of 2020.

If you are unfamiliar with Varusteleka, they are a awesome company over in Finland that make a number of outdoor and military related products. Since Finland shares a border with Russia, and Russia has done a lot of shady stuff in the past centuries, they maintain a high state of readiness. Due to the whole Covid-19 thing, they had to cancel scheduled training this spring, so they decided to try something new, a Remote Military March. Where people can go out as individuals or in small groups and complete a 25 to 50 kilometer march. All while carrying a 10 kilogram (about 22 pounds) pack.

So my boys and I, accompanied by my buddy Matt from Jerking The Trigger, set out on a 25km march. It was an amazing experience and I couldn’t be prouder of my boys for accomplishing it. Not to mention completing a 10 minute fire challenge in the middle of the movement. 🙂
