To Build A Fire: Part – 4 Swedish FireSteel 2.0

To Build a Fire, by Jack London, is kind of a dark story. But it is a real story. The struggle of trying to get a fire lit when your life depends on it, not just when you want to make some smores in the back yard. So I give the Swedish FireSteel 2.0 a try, when I am cold and wet out in the woods…

Go here for the Swedish FireSteel 2.0 from Light My Fire.

Small and light with a built in whistle. Now if I can just start a fire with it…
  1. Ivan, These are invaluable lessons! I haven’t seen you dunk/attempt my fav the milsurp magnesium/ferro rod combo. I have carried one for decades in my backpacking kit, used it once or twice, in rain and snow storms, but never in the ballsy groove you’ve been on recently. Rock on!

    1. Thanks Dave, I appreciate that! I have certainly learned lots while filming these. I know exactly the one you are talking about too. I may have to see if I can find one. I used to have one for years… (BOOM!) Just rummaged through a backpack in the closet and guess what I found?

There may be another episode in the “To Build A Fire” series…
