Tac Pack Feb 2019

TacPack : February 2019

First off, I’ve never actually subscribed to a subscription box service. But, I do have a friend named Johnny…

My buddy reached out to me and asked if I would like to unbox the February 2019 box from TacPack. So here it is. Overall I think it is a pretty cool concept. Largely in part because you may well end up with things you were previously unaware of, or perhaps just wouldn’t have specifically bought.

For example, in this months box I found a set of Roll Pin Starter Punches by Tacfire. I’ve never even looked for these and have just suffered through dealing with stupid roll pins. They will be a huge help on the next AR build I do.

This box also contained a Armaspec Rhino. Frankly, I never would have bought one. But now having one, I’ll probably give it a try and who knows, maybe it will work great for me.

  1. TacPack….been there, done that: after five shipments I was underwhelmed with the product selection. Their focus is on AR stuff, and by now I presumed that we’ve all built our own, so when TacPack sends you, for example, new anti-rotation pins (a problem that may not actually exist in nature) should you swap out the pins that you have already installed have been you serving well? Same thing with the tactical stock or muzzle device that they sent. I toss ’em in a box labeled ‘barter.’ Not that it’s junk, most of the tools and accessories are useful and well built, so I don’t have a problem with the quality of the stuff, at this point in my gun hobby/passion/obsession: superfluous. Also, spending $50+ per shipment to receive ‘swag’ from TacPack–sticker, shirt, patch–is presumptuous on their part. I give TacPack credit for trying, though. Just not for me.

    1. I’m with you Dave. Which is why I have never subscribed to a monthly box. If I was going to go down that road, I feel like it would be something consumable. Like a coffee club. Or how about a ammo crate? Different loadings of different calibers? Seems more my speed…
