Gore Windstopper material is awesome...

Outdoor Research Backstop Gloves

While in Afghanistan I was struggling with finding a glove that would do a decent job keeping my hands from freezing, but still allow enough dexterity to do critical tasks…  …use a M-4, Glock 17, Motorola radio, etc.  I ended up landing on the Outdoor Research Backstop Gloves.  Through their use of Gore Windstopper, they made a pretty cozy glove that does a good job keeping that cutting wind from getting to my hands.  Whether you are running winter trails, riding bikes downtown for coffee, or standing on hilltops in Afghanistan, these are a good choice.

*Outdoor Research has now updated these gloves.  They now offer the Backstop Sensor Gloves, with special pads on your index finger and thumb, allowing the use of touchscreens such as your smartphone.*

You can find the OR Backstop Sensor Gloves here.
