While there are a lot of ferro rods on the market, I think Exotac did a great job with their polySTRIKER XL. For starters, the ferrocerium is significantly thicker than a lot of ferro rods. Couple that with a large handle made of recycled ABS plastic and a self nesting tungsten carbide scraper… And you have a winner.
The way the tungsten carbide scraper is shaped, it does a great job throwing sparks where you need them. Definitely worth having in your day pack or bug out bag.
