I will say they have a nice black coating on them...

Noveske NSR Keymod Rail

I have been using a couple Noveske NSR Keymod Rails for a number of years now.  To be fair, they have held up pretty well, no complaints there.  I think when they came out, they were pretty cool.  Lightweight for the time and with the Keymod system of attachment as well, as manufacturers were looking to get away from quad rails on rifle systems.

The real drawback, in my experience, with the Noveske NSR Rails is with the attachment system.  They use a barrel nut that has to be timed.  Who the hell does that?!  And if that isn’t bad enough, trying to get the damn top rail lined up and the barrel nut torqued to spec, it doesn’t come with a wrench for the barrel nut.  It requires a random-ass crows foot wrench that most automotive and hardware stores don’t carry.  And, sample size of 1, the wrench will have to be modified to work with the barrel nut.

With the huge selection of quality rail systems for your M-4 / AR-15 style rifle out there today, I would look elsewhere unless you just like the name.

You can find the Noveske NSR Keymod Rails here.

The bane of this rail system is that damn barrel nut…
