Upper Monarch Lake

Monarch Lakes Adventure: Part – 4

Episode 4 of the Monarch Lakes Adventure Log started off rough.  It was a long night of not much sleep due to some altitude sickness and probably a little dehydration.  But the day rapidly got better.  I hiked to the Upper Monarch Lake, explored around and eventually made my way back to camp.  All in all, a pretty great day up in the mountains.

Not a bad view to wake up to…
  1. Looks like you taught your self a high-altitude lesson: Drink, baby, drink! Water, that is. Eat, baby eat, too!

The MK road is a b-*-*-*-*, but worth it. Give the South Fork Road a try sometime. Trail head is lower elevation but it meanders through the Dennison sequoia grove. Hug a tree!

What’s the rock wall at 2:35? And what looks like a valve key in the marmot shot. USNPS frowns on improvements in the wilderness, unless they belong to the Park.

And was that a fart at 5:12?

    1. Ya, it was a rough first night.

I will have to check out the South Fork Road.

That is the dam on Upper Monarch Lake. There is a valve to regulate the flow out of it.

And no, it was party of my sentence that got cut off in editing 🙂
