I’ve been using the JSTA Pouch for awhile now and it has done great for me. While you can mount it on PALS webbing, I usually just run my belt through it and put it on my pants during range days. It can be configured to hold 2 pistol magazines or a pistol and a rifle magazine. As far as rifle inserts go, either 5.56 sized mags, AK or even .308 AR-10 magazines.
It gives you quick access to magazines while also giving you built in storage. The velcro flap covers a pouch which is separated into two compartments. One of which has a velcro field for even more customization.
