Goat Peak Loadout

Goat Peak Adventure & Loadout – 2019

Sometimes you don’t go as far as you had anticipated, but it doesn’t make it any less of an adventure. This is a look at a winter attempt at Goat Peak and the gear I used.

Myself, Bill Rapier of AMTAC Shooting and Jake Hoback of Hoback Knives set out late one morning to summit Goat Peak. By the time it was all said and done, we had spent about 9 hours traveling about 6 miles. Breaking trail, uphill in deep snow, on snowshoes, is no easy task…

Sometimes you follow the trail, other times you make the trail…

It was a great adventure in the mountains though and a wonderful backdrop to test out some gear. To see what kind of layers work for regulating body temperature, how to best pack things and all around what works and what doesn’t in that environment.
