I just got in a new Tripod setup from Field Optics Research. Their PRO32-Mil Tripod and a number of accessories. One thing right off the bat I appreciate about Field Optics Research is that they’ve put some thought into their designs and brought some pretty cool features to market.
While the tripod is similar to other shooting tripods on the market that are geared towards PRS (Precision Rifle Series) or hunting, made of carbon fiber, strong enough to support larger rifles, they have done some interesting things.
For one, they legs can lock into the position they are in. You’re probably saying, “most tripods do that.” Not exactly. These legs lock so that they can’t collapse in on themselves. This becomes important when you begin shooting more than one round from a position. Under recoil, tripod legs have the tendency to slowly start collapsing in. This leads to a unstable shooting position. This setup alleviates that.
The legs can also be removed and used as shooting sticks or as trekking / ski poles. There is definitely a lot of thought and modularity built into the setup…
**The Shooting was done at Rock Lake Rifle Range.**
