Some training courses offer a lot, this is one of them. The Jiu Jitsu and Pistol Course by AMTAC Shooting…
I attended this course not really knowing what all was involved. I knew Bill Rapier, of AMTAC Shooting, was teaching pistol and that his long time Jiu Jitsu teacher, Gustavo Machado, was coming out to teach grappling. Well, it was awesome.
The pistol portion was largely condensed fundamentals with some retention shooting thrown in. Retention shooting is probably one of the more overlooked and at the same time useful skills you can have with a pistol. We also had the opportunity to do the jungle run / run and gun course at the ATC (AMTAC Training Center).
For the Jiu Jitsu portion, that took place at the ATC Mat Room. Gustavo did an amazing job curating coursework that was applicable to violence. Baseline skills to give the novice a foundation of concepts and principles. Not to mention plenty of nuance for those that have been practitioners of Jiu Jitsu already. Such an amazing course.
Overall it was a jam packed two days of pistol work and grappling. Full of practical training and some great lessons along the way. Not to mention a great group of people that showed up for the course. This will probably be offered annually and I imagine will fill up quick. Check the schedule to secure a spot.
