KBATs – Kit Badger Anatomy Target(s)

I’ve long been displeased with most commercially available targets.  Many of the targets out there are not anatomically correct.  This I feel is a disservice to people training to use their firearms in life or death situations.  Be they military, law enforcement or responsible citizens.  By not having properly proportioned targets, we fail to reinforce good shot placement and hold overs for our weapon systems.

Additionally, size matters…  Many targets are frankly too big and with that comes extra cost.  You either end up with a giant unwieldily piece of cardboard or a poster sized target that will invariably end up getting smashed and folded.  Not to mention they can be a pain in the ass trying to staple up onto your backer if the wind picks up.

For these reasons I created the KBAT (Kit Badger Anatomy Target).  It is a simple target with lots of flexibility.  The silhouette reads well at a distance up to about 50 yards.  Reinforcing the visualization of a threat, without giving away a “shoot here” box as a point of aim.  This allows and forces the shooter to create the proper sight picture to put rounds where they need to go, without giving them a artificial aiming point.

Great targets for long gun or pistol work.

Additionally, the KBATs has the appropriate anatomical dimensions.  Where this is incredibly important is working “Failure Drills.”  Ensuring you are transitioning the appropriate vertical distance between your shots to the head from the chest.

Reinforce good skills on your next trip to the range with the KBATs (Kit Badger Anatomy Target)s.

As this KBAT demonstrates, the standard silhouette is quite lacking.

  1. Thanks and just looking for the pdf to come through to my email. Have a good day.

    1. No problem Skip! Thanks for downloading them, let me know how they do for you.

  2. Hey, thanks for the some awesome targets…one question, when I get the .zip, they extract as low res. PNG files rather than PDF. Any chance you could re-zip as PDF?

    1. Sorry about that Nick. Thumbnails got thrown into that zip file somehow. You can download the high res PDFs individually though. I should have the Zip fixed tomorrow.

  3. Forgive this if its a repost…I just got the zip file in the email, and really looking forward to using the targets. One note: I have tried to unpack the zip multiple ways and in each case, I end up with low resolution .png files rather than .pdf’s. Any chance you could update the .zip? Thanks for some very practical and in depth reviews this far.

    1. Hey man, apologies for the bad Zip file. Somehow the thumbnails got put in there rather than the PDFs. I’ll try and get that sorted out tomorrow. In the meantime, you can download the individual pages if you would like. Thanks for watching!

  4. Wow! Thank you so much.
These are miles ahead of the market, but may I add a suggestion for the future?
What about making the whole sheet a darker gray or light (cardboard maybe) brown?

I mention this because, following in the vein of tactical realism, your target is rarely if ever paper white or wearing paper white gear.

I can imagine on a tactical course with uknown target positions, this makes identifying a target just a little too quick compared to reality.

This is not to say, that I have seen anything better on the market or otherwise. The DOD and many Police Departments train with bright green silhouette targets xD.

    1. Hey Erick, thanks for the kind words and that is a good suggestion. Perhaps on a later run of them I may try it. It really comes down to printing cost. Conversely, you could always feed sheets of brown paper into your printer at home if you wanted to print them off. Even if just to try them out that way.

  5. Is there any chance that I could receive the height and width of the different organs on this target?
I want to know what size cardboard backing the head and chest need if I cut them out.

    1. I don’t have the dimensions off hand. I suggest just printing the sheets off though and laying them out on the cardboard. Or you can just go with a 8.5″x22″ sheet of cardboard and be good to go. They are two 8.5″x11″ sheets.
